๐ I have something bothering me deeply... Please read my pain. I just need one person who truly cares. Can you help me?
“I Just Married Two Months Ago But My Mother-in-Law Has Taken Over – I Can’t Breathe Again ๐ญ”
My name is Peace O., 27 years old. I got married to Chibuzor, my husband, on February 17th, 2025. Our wedding was in Asaba, Delta State. We were so happy — I thought I had found peace.
But now, I cry every night.
Two weeks after our honeymoon, my mother-in-law moved in. She said she just wanted to "spend small time" with us. I respected her and agreed, not knowing I was letting pain into my marriage.
From the moment she stepped in, my freedom ended.
She took over my kitchen. She criticized how I cooked for my husband. She insulted me, used my towel, wore my wrapper, entered our bedroom without permission. When I spoke up, my husband just said, “She means well, she raised me alone.”
But I started to fade.
She controls everything. Even when I want to kiss my husband or laugh with him — she tells us to stop. One time she even said, “This is not your room, it’s my son’s house.”
Now I’m pregnant and also supposed to go back to school this year. But how can I leave my husband in the same house with his mother — a woman who’s slowly pushing me out of my own marriage?
I sit in the bathroom at night and cry.
I’m only 27… this isn’t the marriage I prayed for.
Please, what should I do?
Should I call my own mother to come and balance things? Should I report to pastor? Or just continue crying in silence?
I’m tired of pretending to smile.
I just need one real man who will understand me. Maybe that’s you. ๐
– Peace O., Asaba
