58-year-old woman welcomes twins after 24 years, says husband rejected second wife option. Pastor Funmilola Abraham, a 58-year-old Nigerian woman, recently gave birth to twins after 24 years of waiting. She shared that her husband remained committed to her and declined taking a second wife throughout their years of childlessness.
In an interview with The Punch, Mrs. Abraham expressed gratitude for her husband's unwavering support. She recounted their journey, starting with her marriage on March 31, 2001. Despite undergoing surgery to remove fibroids in 2002 and numerous fertility treatments, they faced difficulties conceiving.
Mrs. Abraham underwent nearly 10 "flushing" procedures, but still, there was no comfort. Eventually, in 2019, she decided to go for IVF. By God's grace, it worked, and she became pregnant with triplets. However, five months into the pregnancy, the doctors detected a heartbeat problem, and she had to undergo a D&C procedure.
The loss of the triplets was a setback, but Mrs. Abraham didn't give up. She tried another round of IVF, but it didn't succeed. At that point, she put her trust in God and focused on her ministry. She realized that she had done everything humanly possible, and it was time to let God take control.
Mrs. Abraham found comfort in her faith, particularly in the Bible's teachings. She noted that there's no scripture that says a woman must have children to enter heaven. This truth gave her peace, and she no longer dwelled on her situation. Her constant prayer now is for God to take care of her in her old age.
As a woman, Mrs. Abraham still had moments where she'd think about having children. Sometimes, she'd cry openly or silently, and other times, she'd just sit quietly, staring into space. However, she learned to focus on her ministry and trust in God's plan.
Mrs. Abraham's husband played a significant role in her journey. At a point, she even suggested that he get another wife, like Sarah did in the Bible. However, he refused, saying he wasn't interested in getting another woman. His unwavering support and commitment to her were a source of strength.
Mrs. Abraham shared how she eventually conceived the twins. At the 2023 crossover into 2024, she prayed fervently, asking God to bless her with a child. She sought medical treatment and prayed, and within two weeks, she conceived. Her faith and her husband's support were instrumental in her journey to motherhood.
The journey to motherhood was long and challenging, but Mrs. Abraham's story is a testament to the power of faith and perseverance. Despite the setbacks and difficulties, she remained committed to her faith and her marriage, and God blessed her with twins in her old age.
